mayor's parlour, islington town hall

VENUE

Texan Johanna and Englishman Joseph were married in Islington Town Hall’s Mayors Parlour, which is one of our favourite places to shoot London elopements. The light’s always so pretty, and the smaller the room the more your guests cry. Their little Anglo-American gang assembled in the sun outside the town hall just in time to watch an earlier wedding’s confetti get whipped up in mini whirlwinds, so their entrance was just as celebratory as their exit half an hour later.

Up in the ceremony room, everyone got misty-eyed to “Visions of Johanna” before the bride even entered, then the father of the groom sang a Lyle Lovett song involving flour tortillas in lieu of a reading and everyone cried in earnest. Plus, all southwestern brides should tote a tiny handbag adorned with beaded cacti. Can you tell I really, really, really loved this wedding?
