maternity portraits on film + DIGITAL
A maternity portrait shoot on film and digital, shot in Brighton at the Artist Residence hotel on a rainy weekday morning. I wanted to create a shoot about womanhood, adulthood, expanding your identity to encompass the physical changes of pregnancy without giving anything up. Nothing cute, nothing about the baby, nothing about relationships – just identity, sense of self, revelling in the everyday magic of existing as a pregnant woman. (The side plot is the luxury of solitude in a seafront apartment, and the ability to lounge around at length in total silence.)
I've been pregnant twice and didn't document it much at all, so I'm very grateful to Poppy for letting me document her instead.
